MateAura is an AI character platform. You chat with fictional characters — each with a personality, a backstory and a gallery of AI-generated artwork — who remember you, write first and can send photos in the conversation. It works in the browser and in the iOS and Android apps.

It is free to start. A new account gets 100,000 free tokens — about 40 messages. Browsing characters, profiles and galleries costs nothing. Subscriptions and token packs are optional.

Not to look around — characters, profiles and galleries are open to everyone. To chat you need a free account (email, Google or Apple), which is what lets characters remember you and keeps your conversations across devices.

Yes, for iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play). You do not need it, though: the website does everything the apps do, and the same account works on all three.

At least 16. If you are between 16 and 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian. Accounts belonging to anyone under 16 are closed when we find them.

No. Every Aura is an AI-generated fictional character. They are not based on real people, and every image is computer-generated. If you ask a character whether they are human, they will tell you they are an AI.

The MateAura team. Each character is written — backstory, personality, interests, voice — and illustrated before being reviewed and published. Users cannot upload characters or images.

No. Keeping creation in-house is how every character gets a consistent personality and a gallery that matches it. New characters are added regularly.

Pro Auras are the most detailed characters, with larger galleries. Everyone can see part of their gallery and send each of them 15 free messages. Full access comes with the Pro and Premium plans.

Yes. Personality, backstory and voice shape every reply, so a character keeps the same humour and opinions over hundreds of messages. The only thing they step out of character for is honesty about being an AI.

Yes. Your conversation is saved, and important details you share — your name, plans, likes — are noted so the character can bring them up later. Each character keeps their own memory of you; they do not share it with each other.

Yes. When the conversation calls for it, or when you ask, a character can send a picture from their own gallery. Only images already reviewed and published on their profile can be sent.

Characters greet you in every new chat and may check in if a conversation goes quiet. These messages never cost you tokens, they stop after a few unanswered check-ins, and you can turn notifications off in your settings.

Yes — characters can be warm, flirty and romantic: compliments, imagined dates, a kiss described in words. Sexual or explicit content is not allowed, on any device, and characters will steer away from it in character. Characters who read as under 18 do not do romance at all.

Suggested answers shown under a character's message. Tap one to send it, or ignore them and write your own — they are there for when you are not sure what to say.

As many as you like. Every conversation is separate, with its own history.

Tokens pay for the AI that writes a character's replies. A typical message and its reply use about 2,500 tokens, so one million tokens is roughly 400 messages. Messages a character sends you first are free.

It depends on where they came from. A subscription's allowance is refreshed at every renewal — unused subscription tokens do not roll over. Tokens from packs (and your sign-up tokens) stay on your balance until you use them, and are spent before the subscription allowance.

Nothing is lost. Your conversations stay where they are and you can keep browsing. Chatting continues when your subscription renews or you add a token pack.

Higher plans include more tokens each month. Pro and Premium also use a stronger AI model for replies, unlock full access to Pro Auras and include HD downloads. The plans page lists exactly what each one includes.

Yes. Token packs are one-time purchases that add to your balance and do not renew.

Yes, in HD, in the iOS and Android apps. An HD download costs tokens on the free and lower plans and is free on Pro and Premium. Downloading the same picture again is always free.

In the MateAura app for iPhone or Android. Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play, and whatever you buy is available on the website too, with the same account.

In your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own rules, because they process the payment. The Refund Policy explains how to request one from each store.

Illustrated stories told episode by episode, where you make the choices and the ending depends on them. Some of their characters can also be talked to in chat afterwards.

No — the first episode of a story is free to read without one. An account lets you keep reading and saves your progress.

Exactly what it says. Some choices cost tokens; they are never random and never worse than a free option — you always know what you get before you pay.

Yes. Your chats are visible to your account only, and we do not sell personal data. The Privacy Policy explains what is stored and why.

Every image is reviewed by a person before it is published, and characters follow the same rules on every device: no sexual content, no pretending to be human. MateAura is a 16+ platform.

Accounts that violate the Terms of Service — including attempts to push characters into prohibited content — can be suspended or closed.

From your profile settings, or on the web at mateaura.com/delete-account. Deleting the account removes your conversations and personal data.
