Why we exist
Most AI chat feels like filling in a form
You open an AI chat app, pick a character, say hello — and get a polite stranger who forgets you by tomorrow. Or you scroll through thousands of user-made bots with a name, one picture and nothing behind them. We built MateAura because we wanted the opposite.
Every character here is made by our team, one at a time. They get a backstory, an occupation, interests, opinions and a way of speaking, and then a gallery of AI-generated artwork that shows their world. When you talk to one, they write first, they follow up on what you told them last week, and the relationship grows the longer you talk — from getting to know each other to close friends, or to something more romantic.
Two things never change, however close you get. Characters are honest that they are AI — they never pretend to be a real person. And romance stays in words: flirting, dates and affection, never sexual content. The same rules hold on the web, on iPhone and on Android.
A character worth talking to should remember you, surprise you and never lie to you about what they are.

Characters, not chatbots
Every Aura is written by our team before anyone meets them — a history, a job, opinions and a voice. No one uploads a bot here, so there is no scrolling past hundreds of empty ones.
Warm from the first message
People come to be noticed, flirted with and remembered, not interviewed. Characters are affectionate and romantic in words — and never sexual, on any device.
Honest about being AI
A character stays in character, but never claims to be a human. Ask them directly and they tell you the truth. That is a rule, not a setting.
People check the pictures
Every image is reviewed by a person before it is published, and a character can only ever send a photo from their own published gallery.
Your conversations are yours
Chats are private to your account, never sold, and gone when you delete the account — which you can do yourself, at any time.
Paying adds, never gambles
No loot boxes and no random rewards. When something costs tokens — an extra message, a special story choice — you know exactly what you get before you pay.

What is MateAura?
MateAura is an AI character platform. You talk to fictional characters — each with their own personality, backstory and gallery of AI-generated artwork — who remember you, write first and can send photos in the chat. It runs in the browser and as apps for iOS and Android.
Who creates the characters?
The MateAura team. Characters are written, illustrated and reviewed before they are published. Users cannot upload characters or images, which is how the quality and the rules stay consistent.
Is MateAura for adults?
MateAura is for people aged 16 and over. Romance and flirting are part of it; sexual content and nudity are not, and the same rules apply on the website, the App Store and Google Play.
Are the characters real people?
No. Every character is AI-generated fiction and is not based on a real person. Characters will tell you they are an AI if you ask.
Is MateAura a replacement for real relationships or therapy?
No. It is entertainment — a place for good conversation, stories and a bit of romance. If you are struggling, a friend, a doctor or a professional counsellor can help in ways an AI character cannot.
